Behavior

One of the most popular and attractive sleeper gobies. Constantly sifts sand, creating a natural sandstorm effect while searching for food. Best kept as a mated pair — pairs are more active, feed better, and have improved long-term survival. Will establish a burrow in the sand.

Diet & Feeding

Sand sifter. Sucks up mouthfuls of sand and expels it through the gills after extracting small organisms. Supplement with frozen mysis, frozen brine shrimp, and live copepods. A well-seeded sand bed is critical for long-term health.

Cautions

Requires a fine, live sand bed (2–4 inches minimum). Will jump — ensure a secure lid. Avoid housing with aggressive species that prevent it from foraging.
