Overview
Sympodium is an encrusting soft coral prized for its striking turquoise-to-blue eight-tentacled polyps on a spreading mat — a splash of an unusual color that few corals offer. It is hardy and behaves much like clove polyps or star polyps.
Care & Placement
Give low-to-moderate light and gentle-to-moderate flow. Place low-to-mid on rock; it encrusts and spreads, so consider a dedicated rock.
Feeding
Photosynthetic; feeding optional. It absorbs some nutrients from the water.
Propagation
Easy — cut/peel a section of the encrusting mat and attach to a new rock or plug.
Cautions
A spreader — give it its own space or trim it back. Peaceful and non-stinging.
