Blue-lined Rabbitfish

Blue-lined Rabbitfish

Siganus puellus

Identification A bright yellow-bodied rabbitfish covered in fine wavy blue lines, with a dark mask through the eye. Elegant and reef-tolerant. Also called the Masked Spinefoot.
Maximum Length 11.8″
Origin Western Pacific
Minimum Tank Size 125 Gallon
Reef Compatibility Reef safe with caution. Mainly herbivorous and generally reef safe, though it may occasionally nip large-polyp corals; an excellent algae grazer.

Behavior

A hardy, peaceful, active grazer that helps control filamentous and problem algae. Provide open swimming room and plenty of rock for grazing. Best kept singly or as a bonded pair.

Diet & Feeding

Marine algae and dried seaweed (nori) daily, plus mysis, enriched brine and prepared herbivore foods.

Cautions

Venomous dorsal, anal and pelvic spines deliver a painful sting — handle with care. May nip some corals.
