Diadem Dottyback

Diadem Dottyback

Pseudochromis diadema

Identification A bright magenta-purple lower body with a yellow upper back and head, and a thin purple stripe running through the eye and along the crown (the “diadem”). Small, brilliant and hardy.
Maximum Length 2.4″
Origin Western Pacific — captive-bred widely available
Minimum Tank Size 30 Gallon
Reef Compatibility Reef safe. Will not harm corals; may eat very small ornamental shrimp.

Behavior

Hardy, bold and colorful, but can be territorial and feisty toward small, docile tankmates despite its size. Provide rockwork with caves. Captive-bred specimens are especially adaptable and add a brilliant splash of color to a reef.

Diet & Feeding

Mysis, enriched brine, frozen preparations and pellet; feeds eagerly.

Cautions

Pugnacious for its size — add it last and avoid housing with very timid fish.
