Sebae Anemone

Heteractis crispa

Identification Long tapering tentacles, often tipped in purple or lilac. Column is beige to brownish-purple. Commonly sold bleached (pale white) due to shipping stress — bleached specimens have lost their symbiotic algae.
Maximum Length Up to 20 inches
Origin Indo-Pacific
Minimum Tank Size 50 gallons
Reef Compatibility With caution

Behavior

Natural host for Clark’s, Sebae, and Maroon clownfish. Captive-kept specimens often take weeks to regain their zooxanthellae and color after shipping. A bleached specimen is severely stressed and requires extra care.

Diet & Feeding

Photosynthetic when healthy. Bleached specimens must be fed meaty foods more frequently until they recover color and zooxanthellae.

Cautions

Avoid purchasing visibly bleached specimens — most do not survive. Acclimate extremely slowly via drip line. Sensitive to all water parameter changes. Keep away from corals.
