Behavior: Will sometimes clean fish of parasites. Somewhat reclusive.

Feeding and diet: Good scavenger. Will also eat frozen marine foods such as Brine shrimp, plankton, mysis, and squid.

Reef Compatibility: Excellent . Needs places to hide after molting. Requires iodine for proper molting. Best kept in pairs. Peaceful toward most all aquarium species.

Cautions: Do not keep with triggers, eels or groupers.

Yes. The blood-red fire shrimp is peaceful, reef safe, and a striking scavenger. It sometimes acts as a cleaner shrimp too, though it’s often more shy and hides more.

Why does my fire shrimp hide?

It’s naturally more reclusive than the skunk cleaner, favoring caves and overhangs. Give it rockwork with dark hiding spots and it’ll venture out more, especially at feeding time.

How do I keep a fire shrimp healthy?

Stable salinity, drip acclimation, and adequate iodine for molting. Like all shrimp it’s sensitive to parameter swings and copper, so never use copper medications in a tank with shrimp.
