Behavior
Nocturnal and territorial. Hides in caves and rock crevices during the day and ventures out at night. Juveniles are more easily kept than adults. Grows very large and will become increasingly aggressive.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivore. Feeds on mollusks, crustaceans, and meaty marine foods such as shrimp, fish, and clams.
Cautions
Not suitable for reef tanks — will consume ornamental shrimp, snails, and small fish. Requires a very large tank long-term. Handle carefully; the spiny antennae can lacerate skin.
