Behavior
Highly active scavenger and algae grazer. Hardy and extremely easy to keep. Constant motion across the substrate and rockwork makes it an effective clean-up crew member. Will fight over or kill snails to steal their shells.
Diet & Feeding
Herbivore. Grazes on filamentous algae, cyanobacteria, and detritus. One of the best natural controls for hair algae in reef tanks.
Cautions
Will kill snails for their shells — provide several extra empty snail shells in the tank. May be eaten by larger predatory fish, puffers, or triggers.
