Behavior

The Yellowstriped Squirrelfish is a colorful smaller squirrelfish, its red body accented with fine gold stripes. It shares the classic squirrelfish lifestyle — nocturnal, secretive, and cave-dwelling by day. Its size and attractive striping make it a good choice for a medium reef or FOWLR tank with plenty of shaded retreats. Peaceful toward larger tank mates, it becomes bolder once it settles in and learns the feeding routine.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore. Hunts small crustaceans and zooplankton at night. In captivity takes mysis, chopped seafood, and small meaty foods. Feed in the evening for best results.

Cautions

Nocturnal and secretive; provide caves and dim lighting. Will eat tiny ornamental shrimp. Sharp fin and gill spines — handle with care. Best with peaceful tank mates.
