White Tip Triggerfish

White Tip Triggerfish

Sufflamen chrysopterus

Identification The Flagtail (Halfmoon) Triggerfish — dark brown to grey with a pale bar behind the head, a yellowish tail with white margins and a pale “moustache” line by the mouth.
Maximum Length about 10″
Origin Indo-Pacific
Minimum Tank Size 100 Gal.
Reef Compatibility Not reef safe (with caution)

Behavior

A hardy, bold trigger with plenty of personality — less aggressive than some, but still territorial. It rearranges rockwork and cannot be trusted with invertebrates.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore. Feed meaty foods — shellfish, shrimp, krill and squid; hard-shelled items keep its teeth worn.

Cautions

Territorial as it matures — choose robust tankmates and add it last. It eats ornamental shrimp, crabs and snails and may nip corals, and it rearranges décor.
