Identification	A stunning longfin (a relative of the Comet and Marine Betta) — dark blue-black spangled with iridescent blue spots, with long flowing fins and a blue-edged tail. A subtropical Australian species.

Behavior

A hardy but shy, secretive cave-dweller that hangs near an overhang and darts out to feed, most active toward dusk. Peaceful with larger fish but a quiet predator of small ones.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore. Feed meaty foods — mysis, chopped seafood and small feeders — ideally in the evening.

Cautions

A cool-water subtropical fish — it prefers lower temperatures and may not thrive long-term in a warm tropical reef. Shy; provide caves. It will eat small fish and ornamental shrimp.
