Ogcocephalus corniger

Identification	A bizarre, flattened bottom-walker with a stout horn over its mouth and arm-like fins it uses to “walk” across the sand. A deepwater anglerfish relative (not the disc-shaped Platax batfish), mottled tan with reddish lips.

Behavior

A slow, comical ambush predator that walks the sand on its fins and fishes with a tiny retractable lure. Sedentary and cryptic — a curiosity animal for a specialist rather than a community centerpiece.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore. Target-feed meaty foods (shrimp, fish pieces) on a stick; many need live food to begin, then wean onto frozen.

Cautions

Sedentary and easily outcompeted — it must be target-fed. Eats small fish and shrimp. Needs open sand and cool, stable water; a delicate specialist’s fish.
