Identification The coloration of the juvenile is dark blue overall with white and lighter blue lines spiraling from a point near the rear of the fish, with a spotting appearance on the upper and lower back fins. The adult is lime green to blue overall, with yellow white stripes running horizontally from the tail of the fish to the gill area. The tail is yellow and there is a darker blue band crossing in front of the eyes.
Maximum Length Attaining a length of approximately 15-16 inches, this species is one of the most sought after fish in the aquarium trade.

Reef Compatibility This species is not recommended for the marine reef aquarium because it will pick at or feed upon a variety of invertebrates.

Behavior

Once settled in the aquarium environment, this species may react belligerently towards other less aggressive aquarium fish, particularly in a smaller aquarium environment.

Diet & Feeding

The Emperor Angelfish is a hardy marine aquarium species, although great care should be taken in giving it a wide variety of foods, particularly those laden with sponge and green algae. The Pomacanthus imperator is a omnivore and likes to eat veggies, meats, and angel preparations, sponge, algae. Sponge is a key component to the success of keeping large angelfish.
