Meiacanthus oualanensis
| Identification | The Canary Blenny is a striking, entirely bright yellow fish with a slender body and a large head. Its bold yellow coloration serves as a warning signal. |

| Minimum Tank Size | 30 gallons |
| Reef Compatibility | Reef safe |
Behavior
A peaceful and active fish that spends most of its time swimming in the lower and middle areas of the tank. It is generally non-aggressive toward other species but may quarrel with other fang blennies. Its venomous bite deters most predators, making it a confident and unafraid swimmer. Provide plenty of live rock with crevices and holes for shelter and perching.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivore. In the wild it feeds on small crustaceans, copepods, zooplankton and algae. In captivity it readily accepts frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped meaty foods and high-quality flake or pellet foods. Feed 2–3 times daily.
Cautions
Its venomous bite is a defense mechanism — it will bite if mishandled. Do not house with other fang blenny species unless the tank is very large. A tight-fitting lid is recommended as it may jump.
