Amphiprion ocellaris
| Identification | A designer ocellaris morph: a jet-black body overlaid with heavily expanded, irregular white patterning that spills across the flanks. Developed from the Storm lineage, each fish carries a unique pattern that intensifies with age. |
|---|---|
| Maximum Length | about 3″ |
| Origin | Captive-bred (designer morph of the Ocellaris Clownfish) |
| Minimum Tank Size | 20 Gal. |
| Reef Compatibility | Reef safe |
Behavior
As hardy and personable as any captive-bred ocellaris, and every bit as easy. It will host in an anemone if offered one but is perfectly content without, often adopting a coral or a corner of the rockwork instead. Peaceful, and a pair will readily settle together.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivore. Feed a varied diet of mysis, enriched brine, quality pellets and flake, with some algae-based food.
Cautions
Pattern varies enormously between individuals and continues to develop for a year or more, so the fish you buy will not look identical later. As with all clownfish, a pair will defend its patch and may nip at hands during maintenance. Captive-bred stock is hardy and adapts readily.
