| Coloration | Green, blue, "bounce" bubble morphs |
Overview
Rhodactis are fuzzy, bumpy mushrooms (corallimorphs) that are hardier and often more textured than smooth Discosoma. The famous “Bounce” mushrooms — Rhodactis with inflated, bubble-covered surfaces — are among the most valuable corals in the hobby, but all Rhodactis share the same easy care.
Care & Placement
Give low-to-moderate light and low flow. Place low on rock or sand; too much light or flow makes them shrink or detach and “walk” to a better spot. They multiply by splitting and by dropping daughter discs.
Feeding
Photosynthetic; larger Rhodactis will also capture and eat small meaty foods placed on the disc, which can speed growth (and, for bounce morphs, encourage more bubbles).
Propagation
Frag by cutting through the mouth (each half regenerates), or cut the rock they sit on. A cut mushroom placed in a rubble container will attach to a new frag.

Cautions
Very large Rhodactis (and their relatives) can occasionally catch small shrimp or fish — the smaller common types are peaceful. Under too much light/flow they detach and drift until they find a better spot.
