Overview
The Rasta Leather is a hardy leather coral prized for its striking red, yellow and green coloration — the “rasta” look — on a low, lobed body. A durable, fast-growing coral that adds bold color to the reef.
Care & Placement
Undemanding: it thrives under low-to-moderate light and moderate flow. Place it low-to-mid on the rockwork with room to expand. Like most leathers it periodically sheds a waxy film (sloughing) to clean itself — briefly increasing flow during this helps.
Feeding
Largely photosynthetic; benefits from occasional broadcast feeding of phytoplankton or fine foods, but needs little supplemental feeding.
Propagation
Very easy — cut a lobe or branch tip with a clean blade and attach the frag to a plug; it heals quickly.
Cautions
Leathers wage mild chemical warfare (allelopathy) — run carbon and give SPS/LPS some distance. Periodic film-shedding is normal.
