Overview

The Cabbage Leather (Sinularia dura, “Cabbage” or “Ruffled Leather”) forms broad, ruffled, cabbage-like folds. Hardy and adaptable like other Sinularia leathers, it is an easy, attractive beginner coral that grows into an impressive folded colony.

Care & Placement

Adaptable to low or high light and moderate flow. Place low-to-mid on rock with room to spread its folds. Sheds a waxy film periodically and retracts for a day or two — normal.

Feeding

Mostly photosynthetic; feeding optional.

Propagation

Easy — cut a section of the folded edge and pin/glue to a plug.

Cautions

Releases mild chemicals that can irritate stony corals — run carbon and provide flow/space. Give it room, as it grows large.
