Behavior

The Magma Fairy Wrasse is an active, mid-water swimmer that patrols the upper portions of the aquarium. Males are particularly striking and will display intensified coloration when courting females or establishing territory. Generally peaceful toward other tank inhabitants, though males of the same or similar species may spar in smaller tanks. Best kept as a single male with one or more females, or in a species-appropriate harem.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivorous. Readily accepts a varied diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality pellets or flake. Feed two to three times daily. An eager and confident feeder once established, it will typically eat within the first day of introduction.

Cautions

A tight-fitting lid is a must — fairy wrasses are notorious jumpers, especially during acclimation. Provide ample open swimming space as well as rockwork for retreat. Avoid housing with aggressive species that may nip fins. Do not keep two males together in tanks under 100 gallons.
