Two-Spot Blenny

Two-Spot Blenny

Ecsenius bimaculatus

Identification A small pale-tan to whitish combtooth blenny with a scattering of fine dark spots and two prominent dark spots on the lower rear body near the anal fin. Big-eyed and perch-dwelling.
Maximum Length 2.4″
Origin Western Pacific (Philippines, Indonesia)
Minimum Tank Size 20 Gallon
Reef Compatibility Reef safe. A peaceful algae grazer, safe with corals and invertebrates.

Behavior

Peaceful, shy and hopping — it spends its time picking algae film from the rock. Good for nano and reef tanks, though it may squabble with other blennies over territory. Provide rockwork with small holes to retreat into.

Diet & Feeding

Marine algae and film, plus mysis, enriched brine and prepared herbivore foods. A mature tank with algae film helps it settle.

Cautions

Can be territorial toward other bottom-dwelling blennies and gobies.
