Behavior
A diurnal octopus (active during the day), unlike most octopus species. Named “wunderpus” (wonder octopus) for its spectacular appearance. Spends time foraging over sand flats and rubble, using its arms to probe holes for prey. Can mimic other animals, including lionfish and flatfish. Highly intelligent and curious.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivore. Feeds on small fish, shrimp, crabs, and other crustaceans. Offer live or freshly killed shrimp, crabs, and small feeder fish. Requires live food initially.
Cautions
Expert only. Requires a species-specific, sealed tank — octopuses are notorious escape artists. Will eat all other tank inhabitants. Short lifespan of 1–2 years. Do not mix with other octopuses.
