Behavior

An active, constantly foraging fish that uses its two fleshy chin barbels to probe sand for hidden prey. Peaceful with fish of similar size. Schools naturally so can be kept in small groups. Interesting behavior makes it a lively addition to fish-only or FOWLR systems.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore. Uses chin barbels to sense and dig out sand-dwelling invertebrates, worms, and small crustaceans. Offer frozen mysis, brine shrimp, clam, and carnivore preparations. Needs multiple daily feedings.

Cautions

Will eat ornamental shrimp, small worms, and other small sand-dwelling invertebrates.
