Behavior

A relatively peaceful Naso that is more tolerant of conspecifics than some of its relatives. Active swimmer that uses all levels of the tank. Naturally skittish when first introduced; provide plenty of open rockwork for refuge. Like all surgeonfishes, the sharp caudal peduncle spines can cause injury — handle with care.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivore by nature; feeds heavily on leafy macro-algae in the wild. Provide nori seaweed clips, spirulina-enriched pellets, and algae wafers. Supplement with frozen herbivore preparations. Occasional meaty foods help maintain robust condition.
